Welcome to the Boston Pungmul Community!

A cultural space where rhythm becomes community

Founded and directed by Jihye Park, Boston Pungmul Community (Bopoong) brings people together through pungmul—Korea’s traditional art of drumming, dance, and song. Rooted in pungmul’s spirit of participation and play, we cultivate a living culture where people learn, connect, express themselves, and share joyful experiences together.

No prior experience is needed. From first-time participants to experienced players, people of different backgrounds and skill levels come together to learn at their own pace. Through rhythm, movement, and shared practice, we create moments of connection, celebration, and collective energy.

Through classes, rehearsals, workshops, open jams, and performances, Bopoong carries pungmul forward as a living culture and creates experiences where rhythm becomes community.

한국 전통 풍물놀이를 매개로 즐거움을 나누는 문화 공간

보스턴 풍물 커뮤니티(보풍)은 박지혜 디렉터의 비전과 리더십 아래 설립된 독립 문화예술단체입니다. 보풍은 한국 전통 풍물에 담긴 참여와 놀이의 문화를 오늘의 삶 속에서 만들어갑니다.

경험이 없어도 괜찮습니다. 보풍에는 풍물을 처음 접하는 사람부터 오랜 경험을 가진 사람까지 다양한 사람들이 함께합니다. 사람들은 각자의 속도로 가락과 춤, 노래를 배우고 연습합니다. 서로 다른 배경과 경험을 가진 사람들이 한데 어우러져 한 판 신명나게 노는 과정에서 자연스럽게 연결되고, 자신을 표현하며, 즐거운 순간을 나눕니다.

수업, 정기연습, 워크샵, 오픈잼, 그리고 공연까지—보풍은 풍물을 살아있는 문화로 이어가며, 리듬이 공동체가 되는 경험을 만들어갑니다.
