What You Can Learn

Janggu is the foundation of our pungmul classes. Classes center on it, and you'll also play the buk and jing and learn sogo dance along the way.
Start here: Imsil Pilbong Nongak (임실필봉농악) Learn the rhythms and movements of this Jeolla-region tradition. Most students begin here.
Go deeper: Kkwaenggwari (꽹과리) · Seoljanggu (설장구) · Sangmonori (상모놀이) · Samulnori (사물놀이) · Utdari Nongak (웃다리농악) For students with experience, or by request.

Learning at Your Level

Beginners build a foundation. If you have prior experience, tell us and we'll find your starting point. As skills develop, classes move into deeper rhythm, technique, and repertoire.

A Path for Continued Learning

For those who want to keep going, Bopoong offers rehearsals, workshops, open jams, and performances as opportunities to keep practicing and playing with others. Choose how you take part as your interests develop.
